As springtime rolls around, it is time to start thinking about your lawn. In order to get the best lawn in the neighborhood, you will likely need to plant some grass seed to hide any bare spots that may have developed over the winter. It will be important to pick the right grass seed in order for it to thrive in the location where you plant it.

What You Need:

  • Till
  • Spreader
  • Grass Seed
  • Hay
  • Lawn Mower

Using a till, remove any dead grass or weeds that may be growing in the location where you intend to plant your grass seeds.

Fill your spreader with the grass seed that you have chosen.

Carefully spread the grass seed over the entire location that you tilled in step one. It is a good idea to walk across the location in two different directions to ensure that your coverage is optimal.

Drag the backside of a rake carefully over the seeds that you spread in step three.

Cover your newly planted grass seeds with a layer of soil or hay. This will protect your grass seed and prevent it from blowing away.

Mow the new grass once it reaches two inches in height. Be carefully not to cut it too short during this process.
