If you are anxious to begin gardening and you can’t wait until the last frost, there are things that you can do to get a jump start on the season. This will allow you to extend your growing season and provide you with more time to enjoy this wonderful hobby.

What You Need:

  • Seed Starter Soil
  • Fertilizer
  • Seeds
  • Peat Pots

Gather up all of the seeds that you want to plant in your garden.

Look on each package for the recommended time to start sowing the garden seeds indoors.

Create a schedule that shows when each type of garden seed needs to be started. When the time comes to start planting a particular variety of seeds, proceed to step four.

Gather up your peat pots and fill them with seed starter soil.

Plant a garden seed in the peat pots that you have prepared in the previous step. Make sure to place each seed at the desired depth that was specified on the packaging.

Water the garden seeds thoroughly and place your peat pots near a window.

Once your garden seeds have germinated and establish their first true leaves, fertilize them to encourage their growth.

Place your seedlings in a sheltered location outside once the weather is warm enough. Leave your garden seeds in this location for a few days to give them a chance to acclimate.

Plant your peat pots in the desired garden location.
