Managing your money is easier than you might think. With a bit of planning, you can create a budget that will allow you to reduce your debt levels and save money. It is important to stay dedicated to the budget you create in order to achieve your desired results.

Make a list that includes each of your monthly bills. You will want to include things such as utilities, groceries, mobile phones, mortgage, car payments, insurance, and any other bills you might pay.

While many of these bills cost the same each month, several will vary with use or quantity. Look back over the last six months and make a note of how much each of these bills has cost you. Use these figures to create an average cost for each monthly bill. Add together each of these monthly bills to come up with a single lump sum that you can expect to pay each month.

Deduct the amount of your monthly bills from the total you receive as income each month. With the leftover money you have, it will be important to allocate a designated amount for emergencies and entertainment.

Before you set aside any money for entertainment, make sure to subtract at least 10 percent of your total income. This money should be put into savings or retirement funds. Any money that is leftover can be earmarked for entertainment purposes. If you still have money leftover after setting aside the appropriate funds, you can use it to increase your savings or to pay off additional amounts on the debt levels you may be carrying.
