Over time, gutters can deteriorate and develop cracks and holes. As these cracks and holes grow, the effectiveness of your gutters will drastically decline. If your gutters are showing the typical signs of wear and tear, it might be time to replace them. Luckily this home repair can easily be accomplished on your own.

What you need:

  • Screwdriver
  • Replacement Gutter
  • Pencil

Measure the portion of your gutter than needs to be replaced.

Using a pencil, mark where each of the gutter hangers is located along the damaged portion of your gutter.

Purchase enough gutter to replace the damaged portion of your gutter that is currently in place.

Remove the portion of your gutter that needs to be replaced. This is usually accomplished by removing the screws that are securing the gutter into place.

Line up the new piece of gutter where you removed the damaged piece.

Using the guidelines that you created in step two, attach the new gutter hangers.
