Even if you purchased a cheap lawnmower, there are things you can do to extend its life. With a few easy maintenance tasks, you can easily keep your cheap lawnmower working for several years without having to invest a great deal of money into repairs.

Change the oil in your cheap lawnmower at the start of every growing season. Oil can become thicker over the winter and will not function as effectively. If you use your cheap lawnmower to mow a large lawn, you may consider changing the oil a second time during the mid point of the growing season.

Clean the lawnmower thoroughly after every use. Remove any grass and dirt that may have accumulated on the body and undersides of the lawnmower.

Apply a lubricant to the moving parts of your lawnmower to ensure they operate efficiently.

Replace the air filter in your lawnmower at the start of every growing season.

Clean your lawnmower’s spark plug at the start of every growing season.

Sharpen your lawnmower’s blades every few months when it is in use.

Tips:

Always follow the safety precautions listed in the operator’s manual for your lawnmower before you begin any maintenance tasks.
